Chartres 1883

Nestled into the colorful and eclectic Bywater neighborhood, the total renovation of this former feed store and carriage house is rooted in authenticity. Plaster walls, spare furnishings, and handmade materials blend with the pre-existing almost utilitarian architecture, like beadboard ceilings and concrete floors. A saturated color palette drenches the interiors in warmth, highlighted by the strong New Orleans sun streaming in through dappled lace curtains. Built-ins are avoided in lieu of antique-style storage, shown as a bibliothèque in the chef’s kitchen and custom armoires in the bedrooms. A bit raw, Chartres 1883 is intended to provide a unique hospitality experience for those who feel relaxation is best reached through thoughtful simplicity garnished with luxurious amenities. Offering a respite from the mundane, hopefully it inspires many a jazz- and conversation-filled dinner, long languid days by the pool, and memorable moments framed by this dreamy and lush refuge.
